Release Date: 03-25-2014Bangor, ME-- Emera Maine is preparing for the latest snowstorm by placing crews on standby in locations expected to be hardest hit. Hancock and Washington Counties are expected to experience blizzard conditions overnight Tuesday into Wednesday with wind gusts of up to 60 mph. In an effort to reduce restoration time if outages do occur, extra crews will be deployed to coastal areas before travel conditions deteriorate. The operations team has been monitoring the storm closely and conducting storm conference calls for the last several days. The team will continue to monitor conditions and deploy field crews and support staff as necessary. “Our biggest concern is always the safety of our crews and the public,” said spokeswoman Susan Faloon. “Our crews will be dealing with inclement weather and slick road conditions. We ask customers to slow down and be aware of utility crews working in the area.” Those using generators and alternate heat sources should use them in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. It’s also recommended to have generators professionally installed. Fallen power lines are never safe to touch. Please contact Emera Maine to report any hazardous conditions. Customers can report power outages by calling our Customer Service Center at 207-973-2000 or 1-855-EMERA-11 (1-855-363-7211) or at www.emeramaine.com.
