Release Date: 06-30-2015Emera Maine customers will see adjustments in their transmission rates effective July 1, 2015. These rate adjustments will amount to a total bill impact of about a $2.64 increase per month for a typical residential customer in the Bangor Hydro District and a decrease of 93 cents per month for a typical residential customer in the Maine Public District. Transmission rates are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and updated annually based on a pre-set formula. Transmission costs may go up or down, depending on transmission system operating and maintenance costs, the need to replace aging infrastructure, and other factors. “A reliable electric grid is critical to our economy and our every-day lives,” said Alan Richardson, President and Chief Operating Officer. “We know that customers count on it, as they count on us, to provide reliable service.” The adjusted rates will be posted at www.emeramaine.com as of July 1, 2015.
