Emera Maine lines up resources as first major storm of the season approaches

Release Date:  12-03-2015

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Emera Maine’s Storm Response Team has been tracking the weather forecast in anticipation of the first major storm of the 2015-2016 season – a storm that is expected to bring 6 – 10 inches of snow to Northern Maine Thursday into Friday. The utility is readying trucks, stock and appropriate personnel as we prepare for the possibility of power outages.

A nearly full slate of field crews, customer service, dispatch, and other personnel are standing by. The Storm Response Team will continue to monitor the storm’s track and modify staffing plans as needed.

As always customers are reminded to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees near or touching them. Locating account numbers in advance and programming the Customer Service Center phone number into cell phones can help speed up the reporting process. Anyone using alternate heat sources and generators is reminded to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Blowing and drifting snow are likely to make for hazardous driving conditions, so the public is urged to use caution while traveling and, if safe to do so, move over and pass at a safe speed if approaching utility crews working on roadways.
