Release Date: 12-28-2015Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — Emera Maine’s Storm Response Team is tracking the weather forecast as we anticipate the arrival of winter storm Goliath, a storm that has already dumped record amounts of precipitation on several mid-western states. Goliath is expected to blanket much of Emera Maine’s service area in several inches of snow as well as ice Tuesday into Wednesday. The utility is readying trucks, stock and appropriate personnel as we prepare for the possibility of power outages. Field crews, customer service, dispatch, and other personnel are standing by should they be needed. The track of the storm is not entirely clear at this time, and snowfall amounts could vary greatly depending on the path it takes. Our Storm Team will continue to monitor the storm’s track and we will adjust staffing plans depending on whether we get a ‘David’ or a ‘Goliath’ type of a storm. As always customers are reminded to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees near or touching them. Locating account numbers in advance and programming the Customer Service Center phone number into cell phones can help speed up the reporting process. Anyone using alternate heat sources and generators is reminded to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines. As always, the public is urged to use caution while traveling and, if safe to do so, move over and pass at a safe speed if approaching utility crews working on roadways.Customers can get the latest outage information and view our live outage map at emeramaine.com.
