Emera Maine keeping an eye on the sky in anticipation of spring snow, wind, rain storm

Release Date:  04-06-2016

Bangor, Maine — A spring storm expected to bring a mix of precipitation and strong, gusty winds to much of northern and eastern Maine has Emera Maine’s Storm Response Team working to ensure the utility is prepared in the event of power outages.

The National Weather Service’s latest forecast is calling for 1-3” of snow late Wednesday through early Thursday in northern Aroostook County, 1-2” of widespread rain all day Thursday in central and Downeast regions, and wind gusts as high as 55 mph along the coast. As a result, the utility is preparing for the possibility of outages and has readied crews and resources to ensure a safe and timely restoration response.

As always customers are reminded to stay clear of fallen power lines and trees near or touching them. Locating account numbers in advance and programming the Customer Service Center phone number into cell phones can help speed up the reporting process. Anyone using alternate heat sources and generators is reminded to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.
