Release Date: 08-30-2017Bangor, Maine — While conducting line inspections for reliability within our territory in eastern Maine, Emera Maine also is working to improve response to damage reports and requests for service. Emera Maine contractors are installing pole number tags and recording the GPS location of poles bearing electricity distribution lines throughout the Bangor Hydro District, including private poles and poles owned by other utilities. Customers can use the pole number to report system damage or identify a pole for a service, among other requests. SAFETY FIRST: If you see a pole or wire that has fallen or been damaged, don’t approach it. Never touch a downed power line and never try to move one. Contractors with Davey Resource Group, which is conducting inspections and installations, operate vehicles with placards stating they are a “Contractor for Emera Maine.” They also carry Davey employee ID badges. With more precise information about condition and location of utility poles within our territory, Emera Maine aims to continually improve reliability and customer service. Every year, Emera Maine inspects a portion of the distribution system. Work on the pole numbering and mapping project will continue into the beginning of 2018.
