Emera Maine puts resources in position to repair wind damage

Release Date:  11-03-2018

Bangor and Presque Isle, Maine — With a wind advisory in effect across Emera Maine’s service territory on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3-4, more crews have been brought in for the restoration effort.

“Emera Maine has field personnel ready to handle reports of downed wires, assess damage and make repairs,” said Kevin Peterson, Emera Maine storm manager. “We’ve also brought in contract crews to enable us to safely restore service as quickly as possible.”

Staff also are preparing to answer customer calls, perform dispatch services and assist with other logistics of restoration.

With wind gusts expected to reach 55 mph across northern and eastern Maine, customers should prepare for power outages. Make sure to have water, flashlights and batteries on hand.

If you see a line down or a tree in contact with a downed power line, call emergency responders and Emera Maine. Never try to cut a tree down that is touching a power line, and never drive over a downed line.
