Municipal Street Lighting

Emera Maine has filed a proposal with the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) for new street light rates in both the Bangor Hydro District and the Maine Public District to account for LED options.

Many municipalities are looking to increase energy efficiency and save money by transitioning to LED street and area lighting. Efficiency Maine also offers incentives for qualified projects.

LEDs can last longer than traditional lighting options and significantly reduce energy use. Properly designed and installed, LEDs also can provide excellent lighting in desired areas without needlessly illuminating night skies.

If you’re interested in hearing more about LED lighting options for your municipality and keeping up to date on our progress, email LEDStreetLights@emeramaine.com and a knowledgeable Emera Maine representative will get in touch. Please have your account number ready for when we return your message.
